SOFITEC ADVANCES IN FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING

This ambitious challenge has been carried out by a multidisciplinary consortium made up of 4 companies, which cover the entire value chain of the project:

The consortium has been supported by AIMEN Technology Center.

The global trend towards the manufacture of customized, complex products with shorter life cycles is driving the aeronautical industry to make changes in its business model. This new manufacturing paradigm poses new challenges, among which is the implementation of new processes that are integrated as part of a new advanced factory concept, which allows addressing an efficient, agile and flexible manufacturing model, adapted to short batch multi-reference manufacturing processes. This approach provides a competitive edge for the company by providing a comprehensive solution capable of responding to changing production demands.

Based on this global need, the PROFETA R&D&I project was born, a new concept of flexible manufacturing in the creation and integration of tools for a manufacturing execution system (MES) together with the implementation of new highly reconfigurable robotized solutions, based on innovative human-centered technologies, allowing a more natural and safe interaction and collaboration between humans and machines.

MAIN RESULTS OF THE PROJECT

The main results achieved in PROFETA include the following technological developments:
- Profilometric scanning using free trajectories.
- Stacking of "prepregs" in molds.
- Intelligent floor for operator's identification and location in the working area.
- People tracking for the safety system in working areas through artificial vision and wearable sensors.
- Multi-level safety system.
- 3D gesture recognition, for intuitive interaction between manufacturing support systems and operators.
- Manual robot guidance that allows the operator to interact and program the robot easily.
- Management software for reconfigurable production.
- Kitting and manufacturing operations through composite stacking.

The PROFETA project, has ended this year 2021 and has been implemented in Andalusia and Valladolid, with a total budget of 1.2 M€.


Framed in the FEDER Innterconecta 2018 call, it has been subsidized by the CDTI and FEDER, within the Pluri-regional Operational Program of Spain 2014-2020, with the aim of promoting research, technological development and innovation.



PRINCIPALES RESULTADOS DEL PROYECTO

Como principales resultados alcanzados en PROFETA, se encuentran los siguientes desarrollos tecnológicos:
•    Escaneo perfilométrico usando trayectorias libres.
•    Apilado de “prepregs” en molde.
•    Suelo inteligente para la identificación y localización de operarios
•    en la zona de trabajo.
•    Seguimiento de personas para el sistema de seguridad en zonas de trabajo
•    a través de visión artificial y sensores vestibles.
•    Sistema de seguridad multi-nivel.
•    Reconocimiento gestual 3D, para la interacción intuitiva entre los
•    sistemas de soporte a la fabricación y los operarios.
•    Guiado manual del robot que permite al operario interactuar y programar
•    el robot de manera sencilla.
•    Software de gestión para una producción reconfigurable.
•    Operaciones de kitting y fabricación mediante apilado de composites.


El proyecto PROFETA, ha finalizado este año 2021 y se ha ejecutado en Andalucía y Valladolid, con un presupuesto total de 1,2 M€.
Enmarcado en la convocatoria FEDER Innterconecta 2018, ha sido subvencionado por el CDTI y cofinanciado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación y FEDER, dentro del Programa Operativo Plurirregional de España 2014-2020, con el objetivo de potenciar la investigación, el desarrollo tecnológico y la innovación.
