Airbus has awarded Sofitec a new contract for the painting of spare structural ensembles of the A330MRTT Fuselage Refuelling Unit (FRU).
The project entails a new extension of our service for the A330MRTT program of Airbus, in which we already participate with the production of stretchers for medical evacuation, the interior equipment of the cockpit panels and the manufacture and assembly of refuelling rear fairing pieces.
The Airbus Defense and Space A330MRTT is the only tanker and transport aircraft combat-proven actually available and in service. It has the highest capacity of all tanker aircraft (up to 111 tonnes), even those which have additional fuel tanks in the cargo deck.
With this new contract, Sofitec will be responsible for the painting of the spare structures of the advanced Aerial Refuelling Boom System (ARBS) of the aircraft, which, in addition to refuelling task, is ideal to carry any kind of military or humanitarian payload on strategic missions. The A330MRTT can accommodate up to 300 passengers in a single class layout, and permits maximum flexibility for up to 130 NATO stretchers to be carried over intercontinental distances in strategic aeromedical evacuation (MedEvac) missions.
