Follow-up meeting of the Aeropaint R&D project

The project is focused on developing technological solutions that could make possible an integrated process of painting and verification of aeronautical components.

Sofitec has held, together with to FADA-CATEC technology center, a follow-up meeting of the AEROPAINT R&D project “Advanced Logistics and Robotization of Aeronautical Painting Processes”.

Both companies jointly lead the program, aimed at developing technological solutions that could make possible an integrated process of painting and verification of aeronautical components with high productivity, efficiency and respect for the environment.

As part of this leadership, Sofitec is responsible for defining the state of the art, requirements and key detail parts. Also, as part of our role as an industrial partner, we are the ones who validate the proposed technological solutions.
Within the different developments included in this study, we will focus our efforts mainly on the creation of two systems for an automatic painting of aeronautical parts and for monitoring, control and recording progresses of the said process; based - the latter - on the IoT (Internet of Things) paradigm.

Thanks to this follow-up meeting, both entities could verify the results obtained up to now, which reflect the good development of the solutions proposed at the laboratory level.
After this new milestone reached, we expect to validate, before December of the next year 2020, these results in a demonstrator, a fact that will mark the end of this research project.

About AEROPAINT

AEROPAINT, a project funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities and the State Research Agency within the call for R&D projects "Research Challenges", is part of the State R&D Program Oriented to the "Challenges of the Society".

To achieve its objective, several technological solutions are being developed, including the application of processes such as process robotization, human-robot collaboration, augmented reality for operator assistance, infrared radiation for industrial heating processes, artificial intelligence in inspection processes by Vision or Industrial Internet of Things for an interconnected factory.
